Last week I posted this photo and had a few folks as for a pattern.
Well . . . I didn't follow a pattern! Truth be known, I made a project with LOTS of half-square triangles and had some leftover bits. . . . and the rest is history.
Making the cookie mats (just enough room to cushion a hot beverage and a holiday cookie or two), was actually inspired by a project presented at a quilt retreat I attended in November. The gingerbread boys were precut and came with some of the supplies.
To make a short story longer, I used leftover triangles from another project to make the pieced chevon blocks in the cookie mats. I just kept going until I was out of triangles, then made the chevron blocks. The cookie mats were completed with a few more fabric cuts and a loop binding. I had enough triangles for six mats!
These all done now and will be gifted this week, along with a few holiday sweets from the kitchen.
What about the pattern?
Here you go! A gift from me to you!
This isn't so much a pattern, but more of a project sheet with basic instructions to make the cookie mats. I know it's a little late in the game to start something new in time for the holiday this year . . . but there's always next year.
Be fun to have an early start for a change, right?
Happy Holidays!
