It all started with the paint.
It has been a few years since we had the house painted, and it was looking pretty rough. However, before painting could begin, some of the cedar siding boards, especially those on the sunny sides of the house, have warped and need to be replaced.
We found a contractor right next door where our neighbor turned part of their deck into an addition this spring. We got the quote for the boards and then I had a last minute thought before the conversation ended, "Do you do windows?"
In fact, they do, so here we are. A few windows at a time, starting with the front of the house.
However, the paint and the windows and the boards are all happening at once. Making things (and me) a little crazy right now!
Once everything is done, we can enjoy the peace and quiet again. . . at least for a little while.
Fortunately, I am able to keep to my morning sewing routine, more or less. And I'm back on the flying geese project again, assembling the geese into rows, with a neutral blue-gray in between the vertical alternating ups and downs.
As I'm sewing the geese blocks together, I'm pressing the seams away from the center point, but, to keep bulky spots to a minimum, I'm careful to manage the pressing direction on the outer points, too.
Also, it has been fairly easy to line up the seams across the narrow sashing strips. Every one once in a while I'm off a smidge. I'm good with it because. . .
. . . most line up pretty well.
After laying out one twin-sized quilt-worth of blocks, I think there are enough blocks for at least one more, maybe two, quilts! Then these fabric leftovers from the thwarted mystery project from years ago will be all used up and on their way to keep someone cozy this winter.
I'm actually having fun with this part. I like when I can see the light at the end of the project tunnel. And the light on this project is getting brighter every day!
By the way, the air conditioner is getting serviced tomorrow. Paint and window work continues.
EeeeEEeEeeE.
