After a shift in focus from slow progress on several projects at once, to moving into high gear to focus on and finish up two of the quilts, this week, I'm happy to add to last week's finish with a second completed quilt top. The main fabric prints for the now-complete child-sized quilt top feature Dalmations and teddy-bear firefighter illustrations. I've made this star pattern before.
The dimensional squares finished last week and this quilt, now need to be prepped for quilting.
Suddenly I'm back to just two projects percolating, step by step, at once.
What's to be done . . .
I know you won't be surprised to hear that I managed to start THREE new projects to replace the two I finished--progress seems to be going in the wrong direction. A-hem!
The third new project emerged from several stacks of 1-1/2" scrap squares on one of the 'zones' on my wool mat on the sewing cabinet.
The little squares seem to replenish themselves magically, even though I'm drawing from them to make Pick-up Sticks blocks constantly.
This needs a more focused plan.
SoOoOoo . . . I simply started making two-patches, which became four-patches. Lots of four-patches.
Where could this be headed? It started as a playful experiment. It's turning into a fun obsession targeted at those stacks of squares!
A postage-stamp pattern? Sorta, but there's a jigsaw-puzzle-style twist. I'll share more details soon since I'm having way too much fun figuring things out to stop and take notes to share.
As the wind and snow persist outdoors, my time at the sewing machined this week has been very playful. Time disappears. It's important: Re-energize your soul with some creativity every day, if you can!

Re doing something creative daily, however small; you might enjoy this quote from Rumer Godden (1907-1998): “There is an Indian proverb that says that everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual . Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.”
I love that! Thanks for sharing!
