Last week I lamented over the number of in-progress things I have been working on, none of which seem close to completion.
For a 'finisher' like me (or more accurately, like I used to be), that can be a source of major cray-cray.
You would think this eye-opening moment would be a good time to assess my project status and establish and execute a plan to actually finish something.
So let's do a little 'round-up' shall we? This is just the stuff in my sewing studio - active projects on my sewing table RIGHT NOW. Piecing and quilting. None of the hand-stitchy stuff.
First, we have the sorta rail-fence. I have about 12 rows sewn, and about 1,500 rows still to assemble. Then the rows have to be sewn to each other. Feels like this is never going to be done.
The purple Pick-up Sticks wedding gift quilt is actually coming along nicely. Wedding is in January, so I might actually be in good shape on this one.
I love these colors and fabrics. And the pattern is fun and easy. All good stuff. I haven't counted, but I think I have about half of the blocks done (below left), and the other half of the blocks are at some stage of started (below right). I'm finishing about a half-dozen or more blocks each sewing session. I need about 5 million more blocks (not really).
Because I have a lot of scraps, I also have a scrappy twin-sized Pick-up Sticks quilt started, but it's low priority. I maybe finish one or two blocks each sewing session. And that's fine.
I enjoy this pattern and feel like this is my go-to scrappy project at the moment. Good for that one thing to start and stop chain-piecing runs.
That's enough, right? Plenty to keep me busy.
BUT for some reason, I came across a photo from somewhere on the internet of this block, no pattern, just a photo, I saved the photo a while ago. It's another log cabin variation. I'm using my collection of 3-1/2" scrap squares and 5" scrap squares in my cut scrap boxes (the 5" squares are cut into two 2x5" strips).
The cool thing about this block is that it should eventually create a three-dimensional-ish looking result. I think. Great use of scrap fabrics.
I have no idea why I got the wild hair to start working on this ONE MORE project right now with all the other things I've got cooking. My sewing table looks like a tornado passed over it. And it's another unfinished something added to the list.
Eh. Whatevs. It is what it is. I'm just gonna roll with it (and the mess it's making) for the moment. Can you relate?
