Things continue to slog along on the scrappy batik 'rail fence' I mentioned last week.
During my morning sewing session every day, I'm determined to sew blocks into a row or to sew a seam between two rows, so the quilt is progressing at least one little step each day.
Meanwhile, in the evening, I am picking up the cross-stitch houses again. Progress is slow--very slow. I just finished the stitching (but not the blocking) on the fourth pattern (below left) in the Fabulous House series, and I started the fifth (below right). There are twelve patterns in the series, 10 have been revealed, so yeah, I'm a little bit behind. Needless to say, I don't know what these houses will become when they are done, but progress sometimes happens one tiny stitch at a time.
Then there is the wedding gift quilt. My niece is having a purple-themed wedding in January, and she requested a cosy purple quilt for kicking back in the evening. I'm in the process of raiding my extensive purple fabric stash to make a Pick-up Sticks quilt. I have modified the pattern a little bit to go from super scrappy to somewhat scrappy. The Pick-Up Sticks pattern, a variation on a log cabin block, was featured in a Good Migrations issue a while back.
As if I needed another distraction, my copy of the current Inspirations magazine arrived from Australia in my mail yesterday.
Ooh! Look at that cover project. Very festive! You know, I've been waiting for just the right inspiration to finish my painted canvas quail ornament with a simple hanger. This tied ribbon finish seems obvious, but sometimes you just need to see an example to see how it can come together.
Now, I just have to find the perfect matching ribbon color to complete this project. With all these projects (and more) languishing somewhere in the middle-ground, it'll be a huge win to finish just one project. Maybe this is it!
