This past summer, I was so very fortunate to have an opportunity to create a project and lead the project workshop on a cruise to the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, and Scotland.
The Jewels of the North quilt that was created for the group of stitching adventurers who came along for the voyage in July, featured iconic images we would encounter along the trip. Finally, since the pattern and project were introduced on the ship, and since all the extra kits have been sold, the PDF version of the Jewels of the North pattern is now available.
After considering many options, I decided to release the entire set of 12 blocks as a reasonably-priced PDF. All 12 blocks plus quilt construction instructions.
I've heard from several folks who wanted the materials for this block or that block, but in the end, it made the most sense to release the whole batch of patterns together in one PDF rather than create several smaller kits, blocks, or PDF releases.
You can get the downloadable PDF pattern HERE.
Other Cool Stuff to Go with the Pattern
Wool from Wooly Lady 6x6" pieces
Rich, deep colors, hand-dyed felted wool. In my mind, this is the best I've used! Select from your stash or supplement your stash with the exact color used in the project.
If you're curious which colors we used, once you download the PDF, all Wooly Lady color names are referenced in the pattern notes.
The limited availability of the hand-dyed felted wool from Wooly Lady is, perhaps, the biggest driver for opting to go full PDF for this release, rather than releasing individual one-block patterns and kits. I'm currently not able to get more of this wool due to supply and tariff issues. So what's left in my inventory is limited; when it's gone it's gone.

When I do wool applique, I like to use a light fusible web to hold the wool pieces in place. My favorite fusbible web for this job is Soft Fuse. It needles beautifully and is perfect for machine or hand applique in wool or cotton. I've cut it off the roll into packs of six 8-1/2x11" sheets to accommodate this project.

Wonder Needles Package of 5 needles
The fine folks at Wonderfil created a needle that's perfect for all kinds of embroidery and thread embellishment. The Wonder Needle is a cross between a Milliner 3 and Chenille 24--the best of both worlds. Try it, you'll like it!

And a few photo memories . . .
This is one of my favorite puffin pictures from the trip.
Viking ship replica in Norway.
Thistle the size of my hand growing on supersized plants in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Just this week, I finished up the stitching on my quilt label for the workshop project. With all the blocks of images from far away, I wanted to include something that brought me back home on the label, so the Monarch butterfly fit the bill. I now have to find a special place to hang this quilt full of memories.
