As I mentioned last week, I have somehow managed to accumulate a decent collection of little squares - each 1-1/2" square. I have been using these for Pick-up Sticks blocks. This was making a dent in the stack, but not quickly enough for my satifaction. I needed another project to rattle through the stack.
An idea.
I'll make four patches.
Basic stuff here: Four scraps, sew two patches. . .
Press the seams in opposite directions, then sew the two-patches into four-patches and rotate the seams by removing the last two or three stitches between the four-patch seam and the fabric edge.
Press from the back, so the seams 'rotate' around the center seam intersection. It's important that the seam direction match on each and every four-patch. (Yep, I switched fabrics on you!)
Then I made four-patch four-patches (four four-patches sewn into a block) and four-patch nine-patches (nine four-patches sewn into a block)
"Pop" or rotate all the seams. . . even the seams connecting the four-patches and rows of four-patches.
Where am I going with this? More next time. Stay tuned, it's pretty nifty!
