Late last week, I had a 'moment' when I realized that I was trying to do too many projects at once. All of them were urgent and all of them had to be completed immediately. And I felt stressed.
Hold up!
Truth is, none of the projects I was working on were urgent. None of them had to completed immediately. And stress is not fun, and it needed to stop.
This is 'the spinnies.' I don't know if this is a real technical term, but it's a real feeling like everything is 'spinning' out of control. Maybe it started with the silly cutting mistake I made last week. At any rate, in response I frantically started about three or four projects at the same time - as if more projects would make the cutting error go away! And progress on all of them was non-existent!
So, I stopped, took a breath and settled on an obvious strategy - one project at a time.
First, a table runner was completed (it's ready for quilting), everything else was set aside. Then I focused on the Chopped quilt (the one with the cutting mistake), and that's where I am now. The Chopped quilt center, with all its corrective cutting issues . . .
Next, the chopped-off pieces from the main pinwheel blocks are pieced into the borders.
One pieced border is done, three to go. . .
Once the borders are done, I can move on to the second table runner and the stuffed animal, and the two other Chopped quilts that I put aside temporarily. And then, whatever else is after that . . . no rush, no urgency. Priority: Fun.
Stress can kill joy. Removing stress can bring joy back.
Sometimes, you gotta stop, assess, and give yourself a little grace. I did. It's a lesson that is worth learning again and again.

Oh my gosh, why do we do this to ourselves! I keep starting too many projects with finish dates in mind that suddenly I make into gotta finish dates. Ugh…then the stress begins and my beloved hobby has me clenching my jaws, lol. I need to slow down and play with my fabric! You are not alone! I appreciate that I’m not the only one 🙂
Yup! Yup! Yup!
