Lately, I've been fielding incoming idea spurts during my morning sewing sessions.
Maybe that's because a couple of the ongoing quilts I've been working on are getting finished, leaving space for new ideas. Someone should tell my brain, there is no more space available in there, plus I still have quite a few quilts nearing the final stages that should get first dibs in the brain-power lottery.
As much as I tell my brain to 'stop!,' it's no use, and the ideas keep rolling in. And it's not anything earth-shattering, it's small stuff. The other day, I 'found' a table runner that started as an 'idea' during one of these 'spurts.' It has been languishing on a dryer rack that I use to organize projects-ready-to-quilt. it was the top and some backing, needing sandwiching and quilting. Not only did I finish that runner, but started two more!
Later today, I am headed for a long weekend sewing retreat in western New York. So, with all the ideas bouncing around in my head like a multi-player pong game, I'm packing new (and some old) projects (and a few articles of clothing) for the weekend. "I've got enough stuff to keep me occupied for a year" said every weekend quilt retreat-goer ever. Me, included!
We'll see how that all pans out.
Meanwhile, I finished two quilts this week, a BIG win! Both are headed to Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Here's one, with a close-up the really cute fabric I used. This fabric has been in my stash for a very long time. Glad to see it going to a good home. And the best part is that I have a bit left for another quilt or two!
Laid out on the work room floor is my FLOCK quilt, made for the the Big Day pattern. I'm ashamed to say it's still not quilted yet! I swear its turn is next for layering and quilting, The backing is cut, sewn and pressed, and I'm ready to start the basting process. Unless . . . a 'quilting squirrel' arrives on the scene. Pray for me.
About a week ago, I ran to the quilt shop for a yard of backing (you already know where this is going, right?) and one of those 'quilting squirrels' caught my attention, and I stopped dead in my tracks for this really cute Bigfoot panel from Quilting Treasures! I bought two panels and ordered more - it'll make great little kid-quilts.
There are other 'quilting squirrels' in my quilting tree at the moment (Ginny O., I'm talking to you!). But I'll leave those alone for now (if I can).
