Summer always seems to pass much too quickly for my taste. One of the great benefits of living where I do in central New York, is that we experience all four seasons, and my favorite time of year is summer time.
This week, with Labor Day Weekend upon us, I'm trying to squeeze in every last savory bit of what's left of the long, lazy (sometimes not-so-lazy) summer days.

On Sunday morning, I headed out for a day-long visit and stitch-in with my long-time friend Amy.
Her summer cottage is directly on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. The lake was unusually calm as we gabbed and stitched the day away. One or two cloud-bursts of rain passed through, but didn't disturb us on her summery porch.
We snacked on shrimp, chips, cucumber sandwiches (with tea, of course!) and had chicken salad for dinner.
Amy's lemon cookies paired with ice cream and fresh blueberries kept our energy up for stitching.
Truth be known, hard-core stitching was secondary to a relaxed summer afternoon visit. Heavenly!

Monday brought me back home to morning stitching sessions in the sewing studio.
With the August FLOCK kit reveal in last week's message, I can openly share some preliminary images of a side project I've got up my sleeve for the Monk Parakeet block.
I'll be adding some choice scraps from my scrap bin to the bright green as this project evolves.
Just yesterday, however, I received a delivery that may divert my attention from this project for a short spell. Feels like my projects are constantly being interrupted! Good thing I keep notes!
I've got a bit more 'summering' to do, so this week's message is short and sweet! Enjoy the long Labor Day holiday weekend, and be safe!
