Things are consolidating in clumps of three this week. For example, I finished three projects (tops) from stash fabrics.
First, this is the second "Pick-up Sticks" twin that will go to Sleep in Heavenly Peace when it's finished.
This is the second quilt top finish for this week. It's a variation of a small "Split the Check" from The Versatile Nine Patch book.
A few weeks ago, this was a pile of blocks and block parts which were used for class demos. I didn't have more of the fabrics, so I finished the blocks I had and added borders (a little awkwardly) to bring it to bed sized. It'll do!
These are extra-long table runners made from brightly colored blocks which were put aside a few years ago. I got on a snit this week to clear off a shelf in the work room. The eight blocks which quickly became the two runners (I'm counting both runners as Number Three in my round-up) below left, came from the tangle of messy fabrics from the infamous snit-shelf-target. The runners, once finished, will go to my brother-in-law who uses them to display kettle corn that he sells at craft shows all summer and fall.
Going back to the messy shelf. . .what got me started on my snit? I'm headed to a quilting retreat this weekend (later today, in fact), and I wanted to continue working toward my on-going goal to finish things up and move them out to be put to good use.
That messy pile above yielded this glorious pile of citrus-color along with one single block for inspiration.
This pile-o-citrus is coming with me to the retreat, packaged a bit more neatly in a storage container along with some stash fabrics in lemon-lime goodness and more white background to finish (or at least continue) the deed.
That same shelf harbored the parts and class demonstrations models for "Moody Blues" another pattern from The Versatile Nine Patch.
I've got my hands full with the citrus surprise (above), but just in case I get bored (the retreat runs the whole weekend, after all).
From that same shelf I also unearthed a stack of blocks that were on their way to becoming a version of "Everything Nice" from the Cut the Scraps book. That's project #3 coming with me for the weekend in this collection of bags and boxes.
I hope there's room for a change of cloths in the car!
Here is the shelf, below (now) that gave up the three above-mentioned retreat projects. You can see that there are a few more things on the shelf that I've saved for later. I fully expect (a-hem!) that all three of the packed items will come home buttoned up and ready for quilting (of course they will!). I should have taken a 'before' photo of the targeted shelf, but I was too embarrassed! It was that bad!
The shelf above the target is on deck for a long overdue 'DNC' - IYKYK. The shelf below the 'target' has been tidied up a bit, focused on stored small bundles of fabric.
If I had three wishes for this weekend, they would be (1) to have fun, (2) to make new friends, and (3) to come home with three completed quilt tops. Two out of three isn't too bad, right?
BUT which TWO, and which THREE?
*Wink!*
