Ugh. I'm going no where fast in my sewing studio! However, if I look hard enough, I can find little mounds of hope right in front of me! (Spoiler alert: progress is better than I think!)
During my weekday morning sewing sessions (a couple of hours each day), I am chain piecing three projects at once.
Or is it four?
No matter, at least one of them involves sewing then trimming to size. As I watch this pile of trimmings go UP, I know I'm making progress.
Good Golly, Miss Molly, only three more rows of blocks to sew together on this not-quite-rail-fence project! To think, I started this quilt to use up a small stack of pastel-colored batiks. That goal was reached, but the project continues and looked like it was going to be a lot more fun than it has been (lots of repetition). But I'm getting there--stacks of row-blocks to sew are definitely diminishing! Next steps are sewing rows together and quilting. Getting there. . . .
This purple project makes my heart sing! It's fun and easy (the pattern is Pick-up Sticks), and below left, the stack of just barely started centers is definitely going *down* while the stack of completed blocks, below right, is definitely going *up!* This is a gift for a January wedding, and I'd say progress is coming along very nicely.
Sometimes, I get my nose completely in the daily dirt of making, without stopping to appreciated progress. And progress is motivating. Every seam is a seam I don't have to sew again.
Do you have progress cues in your sewing room that keep you moving forward?
