I always feel a sense of relief when with the new year. Don't you?
The holidays are nice, and it's definitely a festive time of year, but it does feel like my focus is all over the place during the last couple weeks of December. With a new calendar and month, it's time to settle in again. And there is comfort in that.
I've never been one to turn to grand resolutions or pithy phrases for the new year. Maybe I'm just not very creative that way. But, to me, New Years Day and new calendar pages are kinda like birthdays. It's nice to celebrate, but the next day feels pretty much the same as the one before, even though there is a whole different year attached to it.
Regardless, to mark the new year, I find myself looking around my craft area for an assessment of what's old, what's new, and what's continuing.

Yes, the puzzle 'thing' continues.
I've always been a jigsaw puzzle fan, but this distraction has gotten out of control over the last couple years. Can't help myself!
This one, a rather challenging puzzle, was a gift. And I have to say I was obsessed with finishing it!
Time to select and start another!
I've been working on this whimsical tropical bird cross stitch project for a long, long time. As of last evening, I only have to backstitch the outside edge between the red stars.
Almost. . .there! Then it needs to be finished. You'll see it again as the next quilty crossover steps unfold.
I've already decided on the next project for these stretcher bars!

This is an entirely new start. My embroidery guild is doing a thing with hearts.
I've been experimenting. Not much to share yet, so the experiment continues. We'll have to keep an eye on where this goes.
As 2022 begins, some starts, some finishes, and some continuing sagas. Pretty much like every other day on the Hummingbird Highway!
And it's all good!
Happy New Year!
