As I prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday (here in the US), this comment about something as common as apple pie from noted scientist Carl Sagan caught my attention:
"If you wish to make an apple pie truly from scratch you must first invent the universe."
On the surface, it's a simple idea. But when you pause to reflect on its meaning, the sentence is profound. We are all products of what has come before. For me, it translates to being utterly thankful for all that brings us to this one point in time (and for really good apple pie!).
Okay, enough deep thoughts.
I hope you sit back, enjoy your favorite beverage along with whatever festivities come your way for the holiday and in the coming weeks.
As for me, I'll be sharing a lovely meal with family for the Thanksgiving holiday. And in a way, you're my family, too. I'm grateful beyond words that you honor me by following along and sharing a chuckle (or maybe a guffaw) on a weekly basis.
Thank you!
