Before I get to my latest quilt-in-progress project featured in today's article, there is a new Heart Fulls release ready in the Hummingbird Highway webstore that I thought you'd like to know about.
When I need a little bit of a pick-me-up, I can't think of anything better than some sunshine (with some rainbows thrown in for good measure)!
Sunbeam is the next Heart Fulls release and it's now available in three different kit color-ways and as an instant-download pdf.
Testing. . .
For the last five amazing years, like many of the other FLOCK Members, I've been collecting bird blocks.
With the end of the current version of the monthly bird block kit program in sight, it's time to start making something with all these glorious blocks!
I've got most of the pattern written for a quilt project that will convert the blocks to a single size then assemble them into quilt projects ranging in size from table runner to king.
Now, I'm at the serious head-scratching stage - testing the pattern with an actual quilt! Can you see my scratchy notes on the papers lurking beneath the Magpie on the left?
The in-progress, soon-to-be released (in the next month or two) pattern will add a center and border to each block, but in a way that allows the varied-sized bird blocks to float about within their 15" frame.
The pattern booklet (yep, this one is quite large, but the piecing is quite fun!) will provide lots of options for all these bird block we've been collecting.
And, of course there will be opportunities for those who sat out The FLOCK to jump in with both feet.
So far, the test is going well.
I've selected twelve blocks to make a nice lap-sized project. And some muted prints by QT Fabrics (the line is called Brielle Garden) in my favorite combo of blues and browns.
And the piecing is fun, with just enough challenge to make things interesting.
But, as you can see, only three blocks - one, two, three - are done so far.
More to come!
Stay tuned . . .
