After taking a few days 'sick leave' last week, I still managed to make some forward progress on a couple items in the sewing room. Regardless of whether I'm feeling well, my habit of starting my day with a little bit of time at the sewing machine is a hard-wired, day-starting routine.
The second twin-sized scrappy quilt using a simple 5-1/2" block inspired by a traditional log cabin block is almost a completed quilt top. A few more blocks to sew, then borders, and this will be ready to be prepped for quilting.
The quilt block still doesn't have a name, and yes, I'm still planning to prepare a pattern for the scrappy block to share. . . Soon!
A couple weeks ago, I started playing with a blue-and-white version of the block to create a two-color, two-fabric quilt. I now have enough blocks to lay them out and get an idea if this is a good idea.
I have to say, honestly, I may be caving on the two-fabric version (below, left). A look through my stash surfaced the dark blue and the seashell print (below, right). I admit that I really like these two fabrics with the 'Wedgwood' print. The shells have been in the fabric stash for a very, VERY long time, waiting for just the right project to come along. This might be that project. It would be really nice to have a summer-themed bed quilt just for me!
If that's the case, I'm going to need a LOT more blocks. Good thing I've got plenty of time and plenty of fabric.
As long as I spent a good part of this last week on my backside. When I wasn't snoozing, I was contemplating what's next. . .
We have a rash of babies happening within my family right now, and I think they all 'need' a giraffe made from this Funky Friends Factory pattern.
And since the fourth Fabulous House cross-stitch pattern was announced this week, I finished the second one in the series this week (yes, I'm behind!). The "Castle" is out of the hoop and ready to be blocked.
Everyone hates being sick. But if you're gonna be sick, you might as well dream about what's next. (And maybe take a little action, too!)
